Put a medium sized piece of newspaper wadded up into the bowl and let it soak up a moderate amount of the baby oil. Now rub the wet newspaper all over the surface in the same manner that you used with the steel wool.
It's ok if the surface is extremely wet you want the oil to soak into the tiny scratches and grooves of the surface. Once you have coated the entire surface with the oil, get clean dry newspaper and buff the remaining oil off. Once you have determined that the power is properly shut off, then make sure that you remove the old light, make a note as where all of the wires are and what color goes where. You may need to snip a little of the old wire off in order to ensure that it will work with the new fixture. This also will require electrical tape and a wire nut for the connection.
Place the new light fixture in place and secure with the mounting hardware that was included with the kit. You should not have any wires exposed or any parts that are left over.
